Here is Magda saying Hi! to this beautiful and gentle boy. He's an Anglo-Arabian-Sardinian Purebred, I decided to name him "Betelgeuse". We met him by chance on our way back from exploring a Sacred Well called "Coni", in the village of Nuragus, Sarcidano district of South-Cetral Sardinia.
Sardinia, although in the middle of the western-Mediterranean sea, is highly hilly and mountainous with cold, even snowy winters. These two factors (mountains and sea) are responsible for unique character and expression of an unmistakable terroir, achieved through an ancient wine making traditional approach. Through the glass, in the background, you can see the very distinguished silhouette of "Corrasi Mountain", the 1,463 mt. (4,800 ft.) granitic mountain which dominates the horizon of this sector of Barbagia, on which the village of Oliena seats. Right next to Oliena, a few kilometers to the South-West, between Oliena and Mamojada, is the village of Orgosolo. This is a special place, full of history, legends, wild forests and caves holding ancient traces of human activity stretching tens of thousands of years. You can taste history in each sip of wine coming from the vineyards of these villages...
